My 1998 Volvo V70 will crank but won’t start. I have changed the alternator, battery and spark plugs. I have checked the timing chain, ignition coil and changed the air filter. Everything looks good. It’s been raining really hard all day and my husband tried starting it repeatedly several times, and it still won’t turn over. Any suggestions?
If the engine cranks but won't start, it is turning over. Start by checking that you got good spark and fuel pressure. If the problem only happens when it rains, there could be a problem in the ignition system, a spark leak, for example. These other posts may help:
Also, check for any possible diagnostic trouble codes, even if you don't see the check engine light on. There could be a pending code for a sensor that might be causing trouble and preventing the engine from starting.
