FUELL Fluid: The Future of E-Bikes
The FUELL Fluid is a pedal assist electric bike that comes with two removable 1008 Wh batteries, has a 125 mile (200km) range, produces 100Nm of torque, and was built using a custom aluminum alloy frame.
The bike comes in two versions/sizes with the Fluid-1 Pedelec topping out at 20mph (32kmh) and the Fluid-1S S-Pedelec at 28mph (45kmh). The e-bikes come in a variety of colors, they have 3.2" IPS color screens, and they'll be available for both the US and EU.
The Fluid e-bike was made to last and it sports a carbon beltdrive, an 8-speed Shimano Alfine geared hub, hydraulic disk brakes, and 27.5" Pirelli Cycle-E GT tires for maximum traction.
The FUELL bike has the potential to revolutionize how the public sees e-bikes similar to how Tesla changed the perception of electric cars.
The design is easily one of the best I've seen for an electric bike, mainly because the company's founder is the legendary Erik Buell - a former Harley Davidson engineer, AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame inductee, and CTO of the Buell Motorcycle company with 40 years of industry experience.
Erik Buell could be the Elon Musk of e-bikes and there's growing support around him and his products.
The Fluid-1 and 1S Pedelec E-bikes are currently up for pre-order on their Indiegogo page for $3199 with several discount options available, and they are expected to launch sometime in late 2019 or early 2020.
If you're an urban/outdoor adventure seeker looking for a functional, stylistic, and futuristic form of transport then I'd strongly encourage looking into the FUELL Fluid E-Bikes.

Top 10 Coolest Features
The Fluid Pedelec E-bikes have a ton of amazing features that make me wish I owned one and below are a few of my favorites.
The Best of FUELL
- 3.2" IPS Color Screen & Lights
- Shimano Alfine 8-Speed Geared Hub
- Security Layers
- High Torque & Speeds
- Long Range
- Fast Recharge
- Color/Size Options
- Custom Aluminum Alloy Frame
- Built for Urban Settings
- Low Maintenance
3.2" IPS Color Screen & Lights
I love any product with a screen and what better way to track your stats than on a bike. The 3.2" IPS screen shows your battery level, speed, pedal assistance levels, and it can even charge your phone.
The dashboard sits above the 900 lumens ultra bright/wide Roxim Z4E Pro lights and between your handlebars, which are also equipped with physical gear controls.
That's a ton of gear in a small package.
Shimano Alfine 8-Speed Geared Hub
I don't know much about bikes but an 8-speed gear hub sounds pretty good especially on an e-bike.
Based on the testimonials I've seen I can tell how smoothly and effortless it is to ride. Nearly every person that's tried the bike has complimented on how fast it goes, which is a testament to the quality of the product.
I don't know what Shimano Alfine is but if it'll make your bike go really fast then it gets a pass from me.
Bikes are very easy to steal; even chained bikes get stolen, so the Pedelec's anti-theft features intrigued me.
From what I've read, all models use a PIN code to access the e-bike's dashboard as well as a foldable lock option. The EU version even includes an optional GPS tracker to keep tabs on your bike.
Additionally the bike comes with removable batteries, which essentially means no one will be able to take your e-bike.
High Torque & Speeds
The exclusive mid-motor, carbon beltdrive, and 8-speed gears team up to deliver 100Nm of torque and max speeds of up to 28mph (45kmh) with the Fluid-1S e-bike.
That's a ton of power for an electric bike, and the high torque makes it great for riding up steps, making sharp turns, and going uphill.
All-in-all you're looking at a solid adventure bike that can handle almost anything including long marathons, mountains, and harsh city & suburb environments.
The 2 removable 1008 Wh batteries have a 125 mile (200 km) range, which is more than any other e-bike I've seen.
That's a lot of juice but it makes sense given the Fluid is the longest range e-bike out there. Granted very few people will ever need to go that far daily, but it'll always come in handy.
When your removable batteries are drained it'll take about 2.5 hours to recharge them to 80% and 5 hours to get them to 100%.
That's not bad considering how long they're meant to last, and it'll be particularly beneficial in urban locations where there's plenty of places you can go to charge them.
The FUELL Fluid comes in a variety of colors and it has two size options.
The medium e-bike is 1.75m or 5'9" tall and the large is above 1.75m. The colors comes in silver, blue, pink, and three other colors.
The bike is also gender neutral so you don't have to feel awkward riding it no matter who you are.
Custom Aluminum Alloy Frame
The aluminum alloy custom frame just gives the Fluid that futuristic look, and it's no doubt why so many people are into it.
It looks fantastic with any color you choose and it makes the bike look clean and fresh. The materials will last a very long time, they'll keep dirt off, and it'll allow your bike to handle the outdoor elements with style.
Built for Urban Settings
I can absolutely see city dwellers using this e-bike in the local parks, on sidewalks, and just to get around. Even delivery bike riders would benefit.
A bike is infinitely more effective in a city than a car is, and it's much faster than walking.
The torque/speeds will also make biking up steep walkways or hills a breeze, and if you live near the coast, it'll make boardwalk or beach biking a lot more enjoyable.
Nobody wants to deal with bike grease and oil leaks and now you don't have to.
The carbon belt and internal hub gears were designed to be maintenance free, which is excellent.
I don't bike very often but when I do the grease/oil would always get all over my hands and I hated dealing with it. So if the FUELL Fluid E-Bike could keep my hands clean then that's a huge bonus.
FUELL Fluid Indiegogo Campaign
The FUELL Fluid is available on Indiegogo with tons more information, testimonials, and photos of the Pedelec in action.
As of late August 2019, the campaign has already raised over 1.3 million with 836+ backers, and the item is in high demand. Both versions of the Fluid are currently in production and are expected to start shipping in January 2020.
Their cheapest bike, the Fluid-1, is currently discounted for $2,801 with the Fluid-1S at $3,301 but both prices are expected to go up soon.
The deals also contain extra batteries and accessory options including:
- Standard Fenders
- Phone Holder ($19-24)
- Central Stand ($49-69)
- Rear Tray w/Fender ($79-99)
- Abus 6405 Padlock (99-199)
All accessories are currently discounted though you can get them for free if you purchase the FUELL Prime E-Bike, which comes with 3 additional batteries and is currently discounted for $3651 (originally $5499).
Note: FUELL Fluid E-Bikes can only be purchased through their official Indiegogo page.
I am really impressed with this campaign and apparently so are other outlets such as CNET, TechCrunch, Yahoo, etc. The FUELL team has done a great job showcasing their product and it may be a true game changer.
Yes the e-bikes are pricey but they were also designed to be premium and many of their backers understand this.
I can't say that you should immediately buy-in, but I would recommend taking a look at this campaign because the FUELL Fluid E-bikes could very well be the future of local transport.
