For two years, I found it convenient to use a vacuum cleaner in my car that was powered by a built-in rechargeable battery. But I was never happy with its suction, and eventually the vacuum’s operating time decreased to the point that I could no longer complete the job on one charge.

I decided to purchase a new unit. One possibility I eventually discarded was a vacuum that ran on AC. While these devices get the job done, I didn’t want to run an extension cord from inside the house every time I cleaned the vehicle.

My preference was to purchase a unit that drew power from my vehicle’s cigarette lighter socket. A car battery can supply all the power a vacuum requires and won’t die halfway through the job.

While browsing through the offerings on Amazon, I came across the TS-CV05 from Tsumbay. This vacuum came equipped with a lengthy power cord, and, according to the description, suction was rated at 5000PA. I submitted an order.

Description

The Tsumbay vacuum weighs in at 2.2 pounds. The entire unit—including accessories—fits into a carrying case that is 16 inches long, 4.5 inches wide, and 6 inches deep.

This black and gray colored car vacuum is equipped with a 14.8-foot power cord terminating with a cigarette connector style plug. Included in the bundle is an 18-inch plastic flexible extender, crevice tool, dust brush, operator’s guide, and carrying case.

A 12VDC power source is required. The Tsumbay car vacuum is fitted with a washable filter, and suction power is rated at 5000PA.

Durability

The Tsumbay provided trouble-free service during my tests. Each of the accessories fit correctly and, provided they are used as intended, will last several years.

This vacuum is fitted with a washable filter. This is a replaceable item but should enjoy a reasonably healthy lifespan.

Stress relief is provided at both ends of the power cord to ensure connections are appropriately protected.

Operation

I vacuumed my car; a big job, because I am inherently lazy and tend to put off cleaning routines far longer than I should.

The seat cushions were vacuumed using the dust brush inserted onto the crevice tool. A side to side motion worked best.

Cleaning my floor mats required additional elbow room, so I connected the flexible extender between the vacuum and the crevice tool.

Narrow or cramped spaces were vacuumed with the dust brush removed.

As expected with any vacuum, suction decreased as the dustbin filled with dried leaves, and other debris. I simply snapped open the unit and dumped the accumulated waste into a garbage bag. Then, with full suction restored, continued to work.

Maintenance

After each use, the dustbin should be emptied, and the filter rinsed.

Overall Impression

I like this car vacuum. The power cord is long enough to reach any part of my car, and the included accessories, combined with plenty of suction power, provide the ability to properly clean my vehicle. The Tsumbay TS-CV05 is recommended.
